Blog 5 Reflection

After reading my peers’ ideas, I was impressed with what movie ideas everyone came up with. There was a diverse amount of ideas with many factors that made me reflect upon mine and think about what I could have added. When Yaseen provided context to his trailer in reference to his plot, I thought that was probably a good idea for me to add so the people seeing my trailer won’t be confused when connecting my trailer with my plot summary. By showing where the trailer falls into the plot of the story, it gives the reader less difficulty in understanding the correlation. When I talked about my research, I talked about potential research that I could do for my film or some research that played a major factor in my plot. Something that I saw from a few people like Jacob is that they went above and beyond to provide the sources of potential websites that they would use as research and quoting what portion of their research connects to the significant meaning of their story. I think I should have added that to mine since my film did discuss the statistics of college students that are troubled in deciding what major they want to follow.
I really liked the effort everyone put into their trailers to give a sneak peek of their film. Something I really liked was the important message everyone tried to bring about serious issues that I had no clue about. From the issue in Columbia that was expressed in Ikra’s film to the discrimination in cowboy films that was talked about in Matin’s film, all were intriguing topics that I found myself trying to learn more about. The message that each film portrayed was quite important that I think more films should be addressing these topics. If anything I believe that most of these films should be actual movies just because of how compelling and interesting their plot summary sounded and how unique it sounded compared to current films. Recent films have been about making a live-action adaptation of past animated films. As much as how entertaining that maybe, I think that the messages in some of the plot summaries I read may bring more entertainment, significance, and really informative information to the audience. Now at a time where it may seem that creativity is lacking in the film industry, exposure to these topics could inspire some film actors to create a great movie out of it. Some of the plots reminded me of the old famous films like “Remembering the Titans” where the film portrayed the story of a football team that put aside segregation at the time to play football and win the championship. The story-line may be different but the message was the same or just as powerful as it was back then. Overall, I really enjoyed seeing the different film ideas that everyone came up with and it really inspired me to look up the topics I was not well informed on.
