There was a lot of great creativity that came out of this core assignment. I did not expect to enjoy a writing class as much as I did. This assignment was a breath of fresh air and made me get out of my comfort zone and be creative for once. Seeing all my peer’s assignments really showed me how different our imaginations can be. There are so many stories inspired by current events and even life experiences. Everyones unique and you can see that here in everyone’s stories. I really enjoyed Grinald’s post and I was also looking forward to it the most. In the previous blog post, he captivated me with the amount of detail on the “Radical Beliefs of Joe Steel”. Grinald did not disappoint, the trailer was filled with intense music that really showed helped drive the story and narrative while setting the right mood. I enjoyed his trailer and assignment so much I wanted to see what happens next for Joe Steel. I also enjoyed Matin’s assignment as it was something different. I enjoyed how he wanted to bring something to light that was really never seen before. The fact that there were black cowboys is something I never really known. We do not see many portrayals of black cowboys and Matin did a great job in using his trailer to show that. Like Matin’s goal of bringing awareness to a topic Ray also used this assignment to bring awareness to a topic. The fact that we as a species are harming our own home is sad. Ray brings up an incredibly relevant topic and makes it interesting at the same time. Incorporating a family conflict and making the main character decide between family and his own beliefs is something relatable. Ray uses this trope really well and I hope changes are made quickly to save our planet. I also enjoyed Naoufal’s assignment “Life”, because it brought up a topic that I also brought up in one of my papers. Taking our time to enjoy life and go out of our way to improve our mental health is important. This is a great topic in today’s society where everyone so focused on one thing and sometimes they forget that their mental health is just as important. Since I have been craving traveling and adventuring this assignment really hit a nice spot for me. It makes me wish this pandemic is over so I can enjoy a nice adventure across the planet. Overall all these assignments were incredibly unique. They all have a certain goal and purpose that really interweaves into the stories. Knowing that these all originated from music videos and branched off into our own interpretations is amazing. Like I said before this assignment was a breath of fresh air and gave me an opportunity to be creative. I did not get this much creativity and freedom in most of my classes my entire life. I never really enjoyed writing but I enjoyed an assignment like this.
