Core assignment 3 was very different to the previous two assignments that we have tackled in class. I was excited to see what others would come up for their project. For example, Michaella’s “The Trafficking Ring” I thought the images used within the trailer were very well thought out. From the buying and selling of guns to dangerous gang members. The music also shows that the film will be filled with action and have a level of intensity where the viewer would be on the edge of their seat ready to engage more with the film. Another trailer that I believed was very well done was Yaseen’s “Crybaby”. This was extremely interesting for me because he included himself within the film. I thought it was very well done for the time we were given as well as the resources available to us. Everything flowed very well as well. From the images that really show the emotions of the characters within the story to the audio being so monotone really sets the mood for the whole film. A Lot of effort was put in and I believe it exceeded my own standards for this project as a whole. Another project that I believe was very good was Leeyah’s “It Was Just A Dream”. The title really says alot for this project. I believe the whole concept of being in a dream and going to a concert just to wonder if the performer was him or not is something I would visualize in an actual movie. I believed the video was straight to the point. The images of Pop Smoke were great in order to commemorate the rapper for what he has done and his sad passing. The story is also very well thought out. From starting at a church to wanting to go big. Another interesting trailer I have watched was Leonard’s “Him or Gym”. It speaks on the financial troubles a gay couple has within the corona crisis. The title was very nice as it encompasses the whole film of the difficult choice in choosing a loved one versus financial stability. I believed the video was also very well done. The constant showing of money really shows how important it is for them at a time like this. The man wiping his tears with the money also shows how much they are making from selling weights. I also enjoyed the happy ending where they would be there for each other and go through any hardships together. Another trailer I thought was really good was Jorge “Different Stages of Grief”. I take you on an emotional roller coaster that leaves you on a positive note. I believe he did a great job with setting the whole mood for the film. The images show loneliness and depression and the significance of it. The ending leaves you with hope as it states that our calls will be answered showing that eventually everything will be okay soon. I also liked that there was a call to action for friends and the ones close to you.
