Hi,
I’m Gyuhyoun Kim, I grew up in South Korea, spent part of my childhood in India and the Philippines, and now chasing bigger horizons in New York City as a Computer Information Systems major at Baruch College’s Zicklin School of Business. My first real experience with numbers was an accounting internship in an e-commerce company in the States. My days were filled with Excel and QuickBooks by building pivot tables, writing simple macros, and turning messy transactions into clear reports. Those hours showed me that neat data makes people trust the results.
My ongoing commitment is with the Law Enforcement Coalition, a nonprofit where I’ve volunteered for the past three years, serving as both a staff member and an accountant. Every week, I balance donations and grant funds, but I also guide volunteer groups on visits to the FBI Headquarters and the DEA Museum. Planning schedules, arranging security checks, and explaining the mission in English helped me feel the importance of time management and efficiency. Seeing how carefully the agencies protect evidence made me serious about data security.
Combining this service work with my CIS coursework has given me a toolkit of precise bookkeeping, insightful data analysis, and a deep sense of accountability. I’m eager to grow with teams that pair clear numbers and strong security with respect for diverse cultures and ideas. These experiences have prepared me to balance statements, automate spreadsheets, and thrive in inclusive, globally minded environments. I’m ready to put these skills to work!
