Dear Cooper and Palantir Hiring Team,
My interest in Palantir began not with a job posting but through investing. As I started following Palantir’s stock and learning more about the company’s long-term vision, I became curious about its leadership and strategic philosophy. That curiosity led me to Peter Thiel: Facebook, PayPal, Palantir – Wie Peter Thiel die Welt revolutioniert – Die Biografie, where I was introduced to a vision of technology as a force to shape the world. What stayed with me most was the idea of going from ‘zero to one’. It’s about creating something entirely new, not just improving what already exists. That philosophy resonated deeply with me. When I learned more about Palantir’s work and its impact across industries and governments, I felt inspired to be part of a company that brings that idea to life.
My passion for information security began with a small mistake that taught me a big lesson. While volunteering as a staff member at a nonprofit, I helped manage applicant data on Google Drive. One day, a teammate accidentally removed access restrictions, briefly exposing applicants’ private documents to all staff. We fixed the issue quickly, but it made me realize how easily trust can be broken and how critical it is to build systems that prevent such errors. Since then, I’ve been committed to understanding not only how data is stored and shared but how it can be protected both technically and ethically.
As a CIS major student at Baruch College, I’ve focused on data protection and system security, and I’ve come to believe that true cybersecurity goes beyond tools. It requires awareness, structure, and proactive thinking. That’s why I admire Palantir’s approach to building infrastructure that detects and contains threats before they escalate.
I also bring a creative mindset and attention to detail. I’ve designed content for student organizations and produced a short film on Korean culture that won recognition in a competition. These experiences helped me communicate complex ideas clearly and build systems that others can engage with. The skills I believe are valuable in security-focused roles. More than just a technician, I aim to approach each task as a problem-solver who can bring creative direction and human insight to technical challenges.
I’m excited by the opportunity to grow in a team that values both innovation and responsibility. Thank you for considering my application. I look forward to the chance to contribute to Palantir’s mission and continue learning in a space that challenges and inspires me. Please feel free to contact me at (646) 413-1517 or [email protected].
Sincerely,
Gyuhyoun Kim
