Second Paragraph (Fashion Group)
Although the dandelion is widely considered as a belligerent plant which ruins the lawns of many Americans, this weed can also be looked as as an “everyday jewel,” both beneficial to health and to the imaginations of children. Dandelions are seen as an escape from reality. It brings out the the desires of the people who blows their seeds. Children use dandelions as a means of wish fulfillment and a way to release their imaginations. Dandelions can be just plain fun for children, from blowing on them to play hypothetical games, such as when you will get married, to catching a dandelion seed and making a wish. These so called “weeds” preserve the innocence of children and allow them to continue hoping and dreaming. When the seeds fly across the sky, the movement is viewed as freedom. Not only are dandelions viewed as an inspiration and transformative beauty, but it is also a good food source. They are ranked in the top four green vegetables in overall nutritional value and are rich in fiber, potassium,, iron, calcium, vitamins, and etc. They also promote digestions and has healing effects on infections in the stomach, intestines, and urinary system.
Integrating sources (Fashion group)
All three different sources can relate to each other in one or more different ways. Each views dandelions as a plant with different needs. Dandelions are used to bring together opposite reactions from people. Dandelions are not as fragile as Julie Lechevsky thinks. Dandelions are called Lion’s Tooth because of the irregular, jagged teeth on the leaves. The strong bond Lechevsky refers to is cause by a taproot that can regenerate. In the video with the boy and the girl, there is a bond between them that can be seen as growth. As the wind blows the dandelions, the seeds spread throughout the area. Although Lechevsky view this as an escape from the place of origins, its a form of reproduction. It brings out the imaginations in the children. No one will yell at a child if they pull a dandelion out of the ground, or run through a field of dandelions and there’s an endless amount of activities which children can do with dandelions. Specifically, catching a dandelion seed allows one to make a wish, which allows children to use their imaginations to envision their hopes and dreams. Dandelions can actually be more beneficial than detrimental to people’s lives and even their health. However, Americans have become so oblivious to the consequences of the benefits of dandelions. Each year gasoline and oil spills from filling and topping lawn mowers are increasing which have also lead to about 75,000 Americans being injured from using the lawn mowers. However, in reality these weed like plants help keep the turf healthy and green.

The article, “Of Dandelions and Sunflowers”, written by Carl Patnaude, is about a young boy named Tyler, who starts a flower project and is fascinated by sunflowers, so he continues to grow them and eventually begins to grow dandelions. The kids in Tyler’s class were so amused by the dandelions, that they could not believe that the dandelion was considered a weed. These dandelions, usually considered weeds, taught the kids a beauty and maintained their innocence during this time in their lives.

Does Fashion Have A Specific Image?
Imagine sitting front row of NYC Fashion Week or the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. The models walking down these runways appear to be flawless and glamourous. Thin, curvy, and free of blemishes are only a few ways to describe these women. These traits are exactly what many women lust over. The question at hand is: should there be more diversity in the looks of women?
Specifically, watching the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, the models walk down the runway in majority lingerie, which seems to fit them as if it was made just for them. Watching this show for years, I have always dreamed of looking like models such as Miranda Kerr or Adriana Lima, who are just two of the famous Victoria’s Secret Angels.
The Victoria’s Secret lingerie lines are not made to comply with every body type. The panties at these stores only go up to an XL, which is only a size 16. The bras have some styles which go up to a size DDD, while others only stop at size D.
Recently, a petition has been proposed on Change.org to persuade the lingerie company to expand their sizes to suit the needs of larger women. They believe that Victoria’s Secret should include bigger sizes in both lingerie and models. Dana Drew, the woman who began this petition which already has 750 signatures, has stated, “My money and my credit are good enough for them, but the fact that I can only buy items like perfume, lotion, and body spray sends the message that my body is not. Every year I watch the Angel Fashion Show and would love to purchase the items I see on my screen but can’t because Victoria’s Secret doesn’t sell plus sizes.”
When asking a representative from Victoria’s Secret about their view on the petition, they had no comment to give us at the time. It is not clear whether or not this lingerie company will comply with the demands of the petition. Until then, women will just have to continue to watch this fashion show full of “Angels” and hope for a change.
