Boring Poems
Poems are bullshit unless they are
boring and meaningful. Or if they confuse
you, or make you need to re-read it
umph-teen times. We want something
fun, entertaining or even comical, not some
Shakespeare shit like Tir’d, where you need to read closely
enough to know the word is
tired. Tired of this analytical stuff, that makes
little to no sense, in my tir’d brain. These boring
and seemingly complicated poems
are like stabbing yourself in the face,
umph-teen times, like a massacre on your
poem. But
Once the poem is understood, it is like
going home, after a long day at work,
and eating your favorite food,
and laying down in your favorite blanket,
almost like a reward, after doing something
exhausting.

Fashion Check in

When thinking about fashion, the first thing that comes to your mind might be clothes or models. However there is much more to fashion then a beautiful person walking down the runway. Look around you and there are inspirations everywhere. The media and pop culture are the biggest influences on fashion. Something simple, like a palm tree, can spark a spring/summer collection, or some type of trend. Everyday people wear clothes that gives off a certain impression to others. Your distress jeans may say that your feeling casual and layback. Your outfit can define who you are. It can give you an identity. The fabric, colors and style of the clothes are works of art, that combine together to create a piece of fashion. Fashion is a form of expression for both the designer and the people wearing it.

Now, don’t get us wrong. Just because we mentioned a model, a runway, designer and clothes, doesn’t mean that is what fashion is all about. Fashion is really a popular trend. Fashion is almost always related to clothes, but it isn’t limited to clothes. We have shoes, styles, hair, make up, walks, talks and more. Fashion is like an infinite category; a lot of ‘things’ can fit into it. We have fashion as an identity, the physicality of fashion, disabilities in fashion, pop culture in fashion, and fashion as an art.

Fashion Check in

  1. We plan to use Tumblr as our website. It is a blog, and gives more room for aesthetics. We want our readers to lay back and relax.

-we want them to feel empowered, and confident.

2.  We plan to have visuals, and an animated quote.

3. “The most courageous act is still to think for yourself. Aloud.”

-We want them to see the quote in an animated version to engage them, and make them feel uplifted.

4. Tumblr is like blogs.baruch, it has the headers/captions, and then has the option of scrolling over and picking mini sub categories.

I would post my site map but it says there is not enough storage, so I’ll email it to you.

Annotated Bibliography

Marrone, Robert L. “Spiritual Crisis.” Macmillan Encyclopedia of Death and Dying. Vol 2. 2002: 773-778. Gale Virtual Reference Library. Web. 22 Mar 2015.

“Spiritual Crisis” is an article was written by Robert Marrone for the Macmillian Encyclopedia of Death and Dying. This encyclopedia entry describes different spiritual crisis occurring and the adjustments people make to reconcile events being out of their control. In order to face death, individuals reform traditional meaning in order to cope with the world around them, changing their religious views to fit their current situation. He uses multiple anecdotes to refer back to different ways people deal with their spiritual crisis. This source speaks to how the individual uses the songs to cope with being unsatisfied in life. In each song, we have a speaker talking to death, or the lord. Either way, they all talk out loud to something. Each song represents an intimate, private moment, which brings in the idea of embracing a loss/death.

Thesis

The imagery used in “The Eclipse” is a piece of the story, that is essential to the whole. For example, the use of ‘the fiery blood of heart’ is an extreme piece of imagery used in this reading, which highlights the difference in Mayan and Western civilizations. The imagery used in this piece allows us to view the text as gruesome, violent, bloody, and emotional.

Who or what determines fashion trends?

Nowadays, fashion is everything, especially in the United States. Fashion (like clothes, and trends) has the ability to be the same, yet diverse. Fashion is the same for everyone; different types of people can have the same trend. Blue hair is the same on a caucasian person’s head, or a different race’s head. Fashion, as a whole, changes rapidly. Blue hair is in today, but then brown hair is going to be in style tomorrow. Most people have a desire to look fashionable or trendy; but where do some these fashion trends come from?

As a teenager, I’ve seen trends come and go. One of the constant factors behind fashion trends are celebrities, like Kylie Jenner. Some of the biggest fashion magazines and blogs see the correlation between Kylie and fashion, that’s why they incorporate and emphasize her style. Some of these magazines are Glamourmagazine, People, Seventeen, Teenvogue, Whowhatwear, Style, Popsugar and more.

Big lips, henna chokers, ripped jeans, colored hair, plaid shirts and crop tops. Those were some recent trends, not started by one person in particular. The fact that celebrities, like Kylie Jenner, incorporated these trends in their lives, gave the trends exposure. Most tweens, teens, young adults and adults are inspired by these trends, which are worn by some of the biggest icons of the United States.

I tried to contact Kylie Jenner through email and got no response, so the next best thing was to look at what she has said in previous articles and interviews regarding fashion. Brittany Talarico from People magazine had the privilege of talking to both the Jenner sisters about fashion. “I’m like punk one month, ghetto fab the next, classy the next. I’m just young and finding out who I am. I get bored, I like to change my hair and style,” Kylie told People magazine. She also mentioned how she changes her style almost every month.

Even for celebrities like Kylie, fashion is changing. Fashion, styles, and trends are changing for everyone, regardless of who you are and how much you may or may not have. These trends happen to be started by someone, somewhere, in the world, but they expand into ‘must haves’ and ‘needs’ once someone iconic starts to follow the trend.

Never Ending Stew Description

This article talks about a never-ending stew from a Portuguese influenced restaurant in New York City. They start off the article depicting the stew, as Stu, and as a person. This stew has been on the stove since last August, being made out of food scraps. It is always being cooked, so it doesn’t develop bacteria. This stew is also strained frequently. The restaurant removes the solid pieces of food and is left with a wonderful broth. This broth/soup is used with several dishes at the restaurant, and is a base for two of the restaurant’s soups. Stu can be served in a Japanese or Portuguese style. This stew also has nutrients and minerals from all the foods that are in it, which makes it healthy. The restaurant staff drinks this soup daily, and have not gotten sick this year.

Chair Description

We are focusing on the actual physical aspects of the chair presented. This chair is green, and is made out of metal and plastic. There are three lines on the back of the chair. The legs are adjoined and have a hole on each leg. There are nine screws which keep the chair together, and overall, the chair is heavy.

At first, we did not know they were talking about a chair until it was explicitly stated further down in the notes. We can infer that it is a sturdy chair that can hold a fairly large amount of weight. This is inferred because the chair is heavy, made out of metal and plastic, and is held together with 9 screws.
