Social Issue – Gender Identity discrimination

 

Gender Identity is a personal conception of oneself as male, female, both sexes or neither. People who are transgender often experience discrimination during many daily activities, such as using the restroom. I propose that a set of anti-discrimination posters be posted throughout schools and in public restrooms. The posters will remind others that it is important to remain respectful of other’s differences, and will serve as an educational tool for new generations. The unknown creates fear and discomfort in individuals and I believe by making sexual orientation rights visible to all, there will be familiarity to create understanding.
