Dear President Donald Trump,
My name is Doreen Kane and I would like to address the issue of the inequality of women’s salary in the work field. In my opinion men do not have more skills than women, therefore they should not get higher salaries. I think the government should advocate a rule that a man and a woman who work in the same job should get the same salary. I understand that there are jobs which need physical strength, hence, in such occasion men’s salary will be higher. However, if a man and a woman perform the same job there is no reason to give the woman a lower salary. Since our society has changed and it is no longer a patriarchal society where women stay at home and take care of the children while men go to work, there shouldn’t be any difference between the genders.. We are in an area where many talented women are trying to succeed and have a career just like men. Women might be less masculine than men but they are as smart. I suggest you to watch the movie “Miss Representative” and learn that women are not sex objects and that you don’t need to “grab them by the pussy” . Women have motivations to succeed in the work world just as men do.
Thank You,
Doreen Kane
We need to change this world and make it equal between men and women. Therefore, please look at this website https://iwpr.org/about/our-mission/ and donate money or even participate in these events. Without the society help there cannot be a change. Therefore, we need to create a document that people could sign to make a law which states that salaries at workplace must be equal for men and women who have the same skills. The more people that will sign this document the more pressure there will be on the government! Also, there are more women than men in the United states (51% women). How is that women have less rights than men?
In order to make a change there should be a classroom activity for teachers to train students about the issue.
The activity is:
- Once a week gather the class together for one hour
- Each child picks a different card
- The cards contain words such as: computer, make up clothes, robots, salary, cleaning.
- Each child will show the class the card he picked and explain why it is more appropriate for a specific gender. For example: the card with the word “Computer” the presenter may say that boys understand computers better than girls. Then he may add it is not true because his aunt works in a computer company at a very high position. This shows the children that there are no mental gaps between genders.
- At the end of the lesson the teacher will summarize that we are all equal and there is no such thing as boys better than girls and vice versa.
I think that if girls and boys learn from young age that they are equal then equality will exist in all areas.
