It’s hard to write a biography when you haven’t really lived yet.

Well I suppose the first thing I should say is that I am the Business Editor of The Ticker. If you don’t know what The Ticker is, you should consider transferring to another college.

The Ticker is the 80 year-old undergraduate student-run newspaper at Baruch College. The office is not far from the USG (Undergraduate Student Government) office, but to me it is so much more than an office. I would say that the majority of my journalism experience has come from my time at The Ticker. I am beginning my second year at Baruch but since my very first day on campus I have consistently worked extremely hard for The Ticker business section. Last semester I was the Assistant Business Editor.

Much of what Professor Bobelian is talking about in class is not so foreign to me. However I am so excited to learn more about business and finance, as well as work towards mastering these incredible useful tools and tactics that will make me a better writer and reader.  Naturally, I recently declared my major as business journalism but I would also love to minor in middle eastern studies.  My mother was born in Morocco and raised in Israel and my background and heritage is something that is extremely important to me.

Another significant part of my life at Baruch College is my work at YOFI (Youth Organization for Israel), where I am the CCAP Liaison. While YOFI is a part of the Hillel, my work is vastly different from such well known social organization.

As CCAP Liaison, my work consists mainly of managing a $6,000 grant budget from the Pro-Israel organization called CAMERA (Committee for Accuracy in Middle East Reporting in America).  Additionally I have written about current events in Israel for CAMERA, and I hope to one day work as a Middle-Eastern Correspondent. I look up to writers like Thomas Freidman, Maureen Dowd, Russell Baker, and Ethan Bronner.

I live in the East Village with my family. Yes, my parents live in the village and they are the oldest people in my building. I guess you could say they’re sort of hippies. I have always wanted to be a writer since I learned the English alphabet. Another hobby of mine is learning languages. Given my diverse background I have basic knowledge of about five.

In a perfect world I would one day work for a  widely-read international business publication. But this world is not perfect and I am a young fledgling writer just learning the ways of the business world.

Gaining respect and credibility in a male-dominated professor is definitely much harder than expected but in my 21 years on this Earth I have ascertained that nothing worthwhile is ever easy.
