A typical Sunday for the average American is usually spent in some sort of relaxing manner, but for 5700 competitors on Sunday the 13th of September, that wasn’t the case. They faced grueling and backbreaking obstacles at Mountain Creek, New Jersey, one of the largest ski resorts on the east coast, which played home to Spartan Race. Named after the ancient city in Greece, Sparta had one of the most powerful militaries forces mankind has ever seen. Fitting, as Spartan race birthed some of the most powerful athletes across the globe. The 8 mile heat consisted of many challenging and physically demanding obstacles but for many racers it was the mental challenge that made it worth their while.
