Snow Fall is good because it makes you feel like you’re actually there. It feels like a personal experience through the story, because of how immersive it is. One way that demonstrates that is the transition at the bottom that says “To the Peak”. The reader feeling like he/she is part of this story is important for understanding the intensity of it. Also the moving animation of Earth and the slideshow prove this as well.
As the story progresses, it seems to give more and more details and instructions so that you can completely understand what’s going on in those areas. Also it seems like the instructions would help if one would ever venture off into those places for a trip, considering the detailed routes on the mountain that the crew took. All in all Snow Fall feels like an experience rather than just an article, and that’s why it’s successful. Immersion and atmosphere are key motivators for the reader to stay in the story, and even venture off and adventure personally as a result.
