Snow Fall Reaction

Snow Fall was a work of art. I really enjoyed reading it. The way John Branch captured me with his writing was great. It felt as if I was with them on a trip to the Cascades. The set up of the whole piece was refreshing because it was a story in which was real but felt like a novel. From the details to the multimedia within it, it came to life.

There were different multimedia devices used like video and images but my favorite and most effective was probably the interactive maps. The “Blur of White” chapter captured me most of all; the avalanche was painted there. The virtual maps helped me see where the skiing was actually taking place and the path they took.

This was a very effective piece and more stories should be presented in this way. It creates a connection between the reader and story being presented. Reporting is telling a true story. Using interactive maps and images helps readers connect to what is being presented to them.
