At first, I wanted to use my favorite quote from the Harry Potter series, “I solemnly swear that I’m up to no good”, but finding the write image and putting the design together was very challenging to me. As a result, I chose to scrap that idea and choose the quote that I used in my Ad Hoc proposal; “Beauty is truth’s smile when she beholds her own face in a perfect mirror.”

I chose to use the piece “Schizophrenia” by Rama Mozell as my picture, since it had different cut up images of women’s faces. I had the perfect picture and quote, but still faced many challenges.

At first, I just used the picture whole by doing a full bleed and variations of it on the page. I also did different colors and variations of the typefaces, Bodoni and Helvetica. I was still stuck until I got the suggestion to cut the image into pieces. After cutting the images up, I found the designing process a lot easier and played with the cut up images until I got my final design. I ended up positioning the images in a way that looked like one woman’s face and used the typeface Helvetica, but I made the position of the texts and the pictures uneven so that I could truly embody the quote; accepting all of your imperfections is what makes you perfect.

Overall, I learned that with that extra push and a lot of patience, I can present my mind with more ideas that I would’ve never thought of.
