The Hazing Effect
Ariel Kaminer shares with us in her article, Cornell Withdraws Recognition of a Fraternity After a Report of Hazing, that this year Cornell’s chapter of Tau Epsilon Phi has been declared unrecognized by the university. This was declared after Cornell was informed of the fraternity’s hazing through a website the university created to prevent hazing. The hazing consisted of being stripped naked and excessive drinking. When the leaders of the fraternity saw that one of the Tau Epsilon Phi potentials needed medical attention, they sought help. Unfortunately that was not enough to keep them recognized by Cornell.
