The following article describes former Rockette, Helen Butleroff-Leahy’s efforts in expressing the importance of a healthy diet to children in underprivileged neighborhoods. While portraying her message she incorporates singing, dancing, and even sometimes rapping into her presentation. By making it more enjoyable for the children it makes them more open minded to listening to what she has to say. One of her raps reads “You are what you eat. You got the power, you got the might, to eat right and keep it light.” This article is relevant to our topic of eating healthy because Ms. Butleroff-Leahy is showing children, at a younger age, how a healthy diet can improve their lives so they can start making healthier decisions now that will carry on into their adult life.
