There are three different types of consoles one may use to engage in game play of any kind

1. PC (Computer)              
2. Handheld (Game Boy, Game Boy SP, DS Lite, Play Station Portable, WiiU)

3. Stationary Console (Play Station, Game Cube, Xbox, Wii)

While these are the main three categories, the kinds of consoles and accessories (i.e. remotes, headsets etc.) are steadily increasing in production and popularity
