This is the compilation of research on gender and sexuality.

Society in America enforces stereotypes of each gender and sexuality, and fails to recognize genders and sexualities outside the binaries that are the norm.

Annotated Bibliography

The annotated bibliography section lists all of my sources and a brief explanation of how I used them. Statements backed up by any of these sources have a “(number)” at the end that leads to the page and points where I got the information. 

Definitions

It has the definitions of the terms that are used throughout the website, starting with defining gender and sexuality. 

Binaries and Binaries Deconstructed

It has a brief explanation of how binaries exist in American society regarding sex, sexuality, and gender. 

Enforced Stereotypes

What are some of the stereotypes assigned to each gender and sexuality? Women are expected to be ‘feminine’: passive and emotional. Men are expected to be ‘masculine’: strong and outspoken.
