One of my favorite animations was the Zoetrope of the birds flying. To me it felt very peaceful and calm, seeing movement among the birds. Each bird was in sync with one another and there was tons of motion. Similarly, Flip Books caught my attention. My favorite of them was the jaguar. It seemed as though it were running away from something. I was shocked to learn that multiple images had created the illusion of motion. It’s fascinating to see how a drawing can be transformed into a short clip that tells a mini-story. The fact that the book was all based on animals was my favorite part.
After hearing about the Op Hop – Hop Op animation, I knew I wanted to see the video myself. As the video began, it was interesting to see the images appear in sync with the music. However, this animation was my least favorite. The faster the images appeared, the worst my eyes felt. Although it was a bit intense, I will say that this method of animation was unique from the rest. Out of the five senses, it really focused on hearing and sight.
My absolute favorite animation was Fantasia. While watching the trailer, it took me back to my childhood. From the music playing in the background to the quality of the video and the characters, it took me to a time where things seemed much simpler. I thoroughly enjoyed the clip and could see myself watching the film! Overall, it gave me a sense of new beginnings, and it’s amazing to see how animation has evolved over time.
