    It seems you and I wrote about the same exact topic! I think you made a very compelling argument as to why paid parental leave is so important in our society. You embodied the seriousness of the problem through not only the use of cold hard facts and statistics, but also an appeal to emotion – key in swaying voters and policy makers.

    I found the most convincing pieces of information put in your memo to be those dealing with the economic effects of not providing maternity leave. One of the most common questions when proposing maternity leave it “Who’s going to pay for it?” You answered that succinctly in your memo by stating that the cost of not paying for maternity leave is much higher than the initial expenses due to some families having to rely on public assistance or enter into severe debt.
