For this assignment I would like to do an interview on a Dominos Pizza store, in regarding to how they have been running the store since pandemic.

 

 

HOST INTRO: Homelessness is a growing epidemic that has spread across the US. According to a study conducted by The State of Homelessness In America in 2017, approximately 17 out of 10,000 people experience homelessness. For the past year, an individual could be observed by the Vanwick Wick Expy, Atlantic Ave, with his board, day and night, rain, or shine.

TRACK: It is currently 1:25 am, for a city that never sleeps, a few cars could be spotted at a light by the Atlantic ave exit, Vanwick expy  and single person  found on the sidewalk with his board “Help I am Homeless”.

TRACK: Andrew: I’m Andrew Johnson, I am 24 years old, I was born in Nassau County Long Island, New York.

TRACK: Andrew Johnson, a homeless man who has been out here in this neighborhood with his sister shares their story.

TRACK: Where do I start. Dad lost his leg and had back problems and shit and so he was prescribed to morphine and oxycodone, and mom same type of thing except just back problem. Same thing, and I got started on it from them because I screwed up my back or whatever, and dad drank himself to death, and then we lost the house and then my mother became like paraplegic and then I had nowhere to go, so it’s me and my sister out here on the street, but we are both heroine and crack addicts.

TRACK: Johnson emphasizes that, he is out in the street just trying to survive and avoid getting sick from his addictions.

TRACK: Andrew: You know we play in hand for money, trying to survive, trying to get out of it. It’s a nightmare.

TRACK: Andrew was asked if he ever reached out for help, or ever attempted to seek help regarding his addiction and homeless problem.

TRACK: Andrew: We try and get help from HRA and Social security but you gotta have your birth certificate Id’s, and when your homeless that’s very hard to have because people still your stuff, so to get that back is nightmare, and to get all the help is hard so you just keep from getting sick.

TRACK: Andrew shares that he also has an Instagram page for his artwork ej_aj_artwork_inc, which he puts on display when he is at union hall.

TRACK: Andrew: I really like 160 and union hall, I sit on the sidewalk with a sign and I have art work out and I sell art work and people give me money.

AMBI: (ambulances passes by)

TRACK: Andrew hopes and prays that both him and his sister are able to save enough to move out of the city and move out of their addiction as well, before it takes them like it  took their parents. This is Shopnil Rahman from Baruch College.

I leave near vanwick expy, near the atlantic ave exit, I always see this group of 4 people there homeless, I’ve seen them for years pre -pandemic to yesterday. I would like to interview them for my radio assignment.

With Texas making abortion over 6 week of pregnancy illegal, and the justice department issuing a law suit suing Texas. I plan to go to different planned parenthood clinics around the city to cover the protest and interview people from who are against and for the law.
