RADIO SCRIPT:
AMBI: PROTESTORS SHOUTING “USA! USA!”
TRACK: On Oct. 28, protestors gathered in front of Gracie Maison to rally against New York City’s vaccine mandate for city employees, which took effect on Nov.1. Protestors included city workers of the New York Fire & Police Department, union officials and politicians as well. Those in attendance at the rally — expressed their reasons for not wanting to take the vaccines. Those individuals who I have spoken to have all decided to go anonymously to protect their identities.
TRACK: ANONYMOUS: I think that there’s people who are weighing the risks, as you do with everything you do in life. They’re saying the risk of taking the vaccine for them is a higher risk than if they got COVID-19, and they recovered — that’s a personal choice.
TRACK: Many of the attendees are mostly essential workers, who have worked since the beginning of the global pandemic. They believe that Politicians both on a federal and local level are the ones to be blamed for forcing the mandate on workers.
TRACK: ANONYMOUS: You can’t just use us one minute and put us in the trash the next. And then pick up the next set of people that you is think is going to run the city. If we have been running the city — as long as we have been running it, can’t just kick us out the door. First off, this is illegal. Just straight up illegal — like, it’s just corruption, this whole “pandemic, plandemic” thing, it’s a hoax. And it’s for control and that’s what they want. But the thing is, us the people, we’re not going to take that. And we have a lot of people that do comply and just because they want life to go back to normal and they think it’s going to go back to normal — but if you don’t fight for what you stand up for, you not going to get too far.
TRACK: Despite the rally being “Pro-Choice” and in support of those who oppose the vaccine, that did not stop pro-vaxxers from showing up and making their voices heard. The group that was present at the rally stated that they were there — not in support of the event, but rather amplifying the Black Lives Matter Movement.
AMBI – TRACK: PROTESTORS SHOUTING “WE WILL NOT COMPLY”
TRACK: ANONYMOUS: There has been a Black Lives Matter memorial here, since George Floyd was murdered. There were children who have made drawings, and schools who have done education events and community who has come here for the last year and a half. And repeatedly — groups of people have come and ripped down these things.
TRACK: In light of the events that had transpire at Gracie Mansion, this individual noted that she is only there to continue shedding light and educating others about Black Lives Matter and standing up for what she truly believes in.
TRACK: ANONYMOUS: I am pro-vaccine, I believe science, I believe in Black Lives Matter. So, the message is that — look into the medical facts, but beyond that, look into the people that you are standing around. If you believe in and are concerned about freedom, then you should be concerned about freedom for all people.
TRACK: For Baruch College, I’m Rachel Dalloo.
