HOST: With Campuses reopening, some Baruch College students find back in campus exciting but overwhelming. Stephanie Norales spoke two students about what is like for them to be back here.
AMBI: Opening the door of the library
Track: I’m here with Emily in the Lobby of The William and Anita Newman Library at Baruch College. She says she actually didn’t mind having to work from home.
ACT: Emily: It was fine I enjoy it, I stay at home for online classes I don’t have to leave much so I enjoy it.
Track: Now Emily has returned to living on campus, She says it feels like she never left.
ACT: Emily: Coming back to campus it feels, it actually feels a little bit more stressful this semester but overall, it’s kind of the same.
TRACK: This year, she can at least cope with her stress by hanging out with other people.
ACT: Emily: Basically, since this semester I been around more people like socialize and stuff, so that kind of help me get through by making new friends stuff like that.
AMBI: Walking and opening the door of the main campus.
TRACK: While walking in the hallway in the 8th floor at the Main Campus, I meet another student named Hang. Hang has a different perspective, telling me that her experience not living on campus last year was very hard for her.
ACT: Hang: It wasn’t easy. I mean, when I’m on the campus it’s like live I always come day in and day out like I have something to do with. I mean I have a specific schedule. But when I’m off campus like doing online, my schedule is totally messed up.
TRACK: Now that she’s back living on Campus, Hang notice that everything is different now and not the same as before two years ago because all students in the college now have to wear masks everyday to protect themselves and each other. But she is focusing on her school work and getting through this new adjustment in the campus.
ACT: Hang: Well, like my life is just like my old life back to normal schedule. I mean, I miss those times so basically, I just hope I can live without mask like two years ago before. Well, I’m not fully in campus right now. I still have a half class online. I’m a transfer student when I first start the semester in the school and the calmness just calm. So, I’m in the school like three months after that. I’m in total in fully online class. Until this matter, now is my last semester I’m about to graduate like you know nothing to enjoy here.
TRACK: After listening to Emily and Hang’s different perspectives of how they handling doing schoolwork without living in the residence hall last year due to the pandemic, they want to focus on their studies to do well this semester and more importantly taking care of themselves. For Baruch College, I’m Stephanie Norales.
