Each of our last few classes will be devoted, in some measure, to your informal presentation to your classmates of your final project. The purpose of this assignment is an opportunity for you to distill the most important features of your research project in a manner that is both concise, yet informative, for your peers, whose topics will be different, even if in nuanced ways,
In roughly five minutes, you shall:
- Offer a concise overview of the major aspects of your project (which, at this point, will still be a work-in-progress. Please mention a working title for your research paper.
- Present a rationale for the purpose of your project: Why, for instance, have you selected a certain topic and why, for example. this particular approach to your project?
- What new knowledge do you hope to gain for yourself, and to share with your audience — knowledge that otherwise would not have been gained had it not been though your project?
- Which one or two research sources have been especially helpful in your project?
- Ask your peers any questions, ask for any guidance you need as you round the homestretch.
You do not offer to present a PPT presentation. Rather, you may, from your seat (stand up, please, during your presentation and look at your classmates), or at the front of the room, address your peers in an brief, informal talk (again, please make an effort to look at everybody ~ you want your audience to feel included, as if you truly care about them). You may use notecard if you find them helpful, but please do not them, temporally or bodily, interfere with your presentation.
Your Oral Presentation grade will factor into your overall Participation grade.
