Mid-semester (October), each student will meet with me for a half-hour one-on-one conference to discuss your writing. We can focus on a particular assignment, a few assignments, specific questions about genre, essay structure, audience, modalities, and so forth. This is your half hour, so please feel free to choose its focus and direction. The schedule will be posted within the next couple of weeks on this page.
Below, are the particulars for these conferences. Once all the appointments have been made, I will update this list so that we have a clear idea of who is meeting when. This material is taken verbatim from the One-on-One Appointment Handout:

One-on-One Conferences
Below is the list of available times for your one-on-one conferences with me. Our conference will take place in my office, VC7–219D. Since neither Tuesday nor Thursday are the days I am typically scheduled to use that office space, I will quite likely be two cubicles down, in the one that is typically unassigned. You won’t miss spotting me! At around this time in the semester, you will have begun working on the next assignment, the comparative analysis between two texts. Please note that this is a half hour in which you get to choose the topic(s) of our conversation. Thus, we can begin looking at the comparative analysis assignment, we can go over a revision of an earlier assignment you are working on, or we can begin to look ahead to the research paper. Please come with a notebook and list of your questions. Please also bring a copy of an assignment you are working on, or an assignment you will have received back from me (such as Assignment #1).
This conference is also a productive opportunity for us to talk about issues important to your growth as a writer, issues which we have not yet touched on in class (for example, do you want to spend more time on grammar, of so, what area(s) of grammar)? Please also bring your journal to our conference. I am looking for quality not quantity. So please, do not hurry and scribble something together if you have not yet begun your journal (sad face). Again, the style and content of the journal is yours. The aim of the journal is: to provide you with a place to jot and/or elaborate on ideas; be creative about new ways in which you’re seeing and thinking about “the body”: describe, in diary-fashion, some experiences or thought-revelations – or questions that have arisen – about our course theme.
I will circulate this list in class. Please select a date and time and write your name in that date/time slot. I hope to have this list complete by Wednesday, October 7th. However, in order to give the chance, if your were absent, for example, to make an appointment, I shall leave this list in my faculty mailbox in the English Department on the 7th floor of the VC building. please do not remove this list from the office. Once you have signed up for a spot, please place the list back in my mail box (thank you!). Once we have all made our appointments, I will copy this list under the “One-on-One-Conferences” page on our course site, so that you will know when you are meeting me. Also, please note your date and time in your calendars now, with an alert, if needed.
