Today at the desk a student was unable to use a companion website for his finance class because the browser was giving him an error message saying that the version of Adobe Flash needed to be updated. When I suggested he try switching from Firefox to Internet Explorer, we found that the version of Flash in Internet Explorer was fine and he was able to get to the website.
It’s my understanding that the system image that is used to define the stander settings and software versions that are on lab computers is being updated this summer closer to the start of the fall semester. In the meanwhile, this browser switcheroo trick might be a useful workaround to keep in mind. BCTC staff should be consulted whenever these sorts of problems arise, but as was the case today, sometimes you’re on your own for a little while between BCTC shifts.
