ebrary access on campus

We are currently experiencing a problem accessing ebrary from our databases page when on-campus.

ebrary titles can be accessed via the catalog however, and once in there, you can search ebrary. As a reminder, if you add “ebrary” to whatever keyword you are searching in the ALL FIELDS search, you will retrieve ebrary titles only.

I hope this will be resolved shortly but please let me know if you have any questions.

EBSCO problems

Just an update on the Baruch situation regarding EBSCO databases: BCTC is working with OLS/CUNY CIS and EBSCO to resolve this issue. As you may have gathered via CULIBS it’s a system wide problem, maybe even a NY problem.

In any case, feel free to email me with any EBSCO problems you might be experiencing (especially if they are not about timing out).

New resource: Sage Research Methods Online

We have added Sage Research Methods Online to our database collection and it is available via the database page.

Sage Research Methods Online (SRMO) links over 100,000 pages of SAGE’s book, journal and reference content on research methods, including the entire “Little Green Book” and “Little Blue Book” series. Use this database to help design research projects, conduct research, and write up findings.  SRMO is focused on methodology, not disciplines, so it can be used across the social sciences, health sciences, and more.

Please let your faculty and students know about this new resource.

Permanent links now available in LexisNexis

LexisNexis has announced that they are supporting the creation of permanent links to their articles. The icon of a clipboard with the link symbol appears on the top right of the screen, near the print and email icons. If you click on that, you will get a link that can be copied and pasted. More information can be found here.

Just a reminder that this link does not contain the remote prefix, so it will be availalable on campus only (or after authenticating). Please contact me if you would like to know how to add the remote prefix.

RefWorks has a new interface

I have updated the default interface for RefWorks to its new 2.0 interface. This new interface is in my opinion a big improvement over the older one – more user friendly, cleaner, easier to understand. The URL and access to it remains the same.

If you want to look to the older interface “RefWorks Classic”, there is a button on the top right that will take you back to that interface.

If you don’t see the new interface when you log-in, you may have to clear your cache.

Please let me know if you run into any issues or have any questions.

netLibrary and EBSCOhost Books

As you may already know, EBSCO bought netLibrary about a year ago. Since then, they have been working to migrate netLibrary content onto the EBSCOhost platform.

This transition is almost over and they have alerted us that in the next few days users accessing a netLibrary title will be seamlessly forwarded to EBSCOhost.

There shouldn’t be any problems, but please do let me know if you encounter any.
