Phil Tejera from BCTC is working on an issue with the reference desk PC that is located closest to Louise’s and Aisha’s offices. Please don’t turn off that PC when the desk is closed for the day.
The other PC by Rita’s and Charlie’s offices can be shut down, though.
Now that work has begun on repairing the skylights in the atrium, the reference desk has been relocated to the reference suite of offices in room 225.
Someone from Buildings and Grounds just fixed the problem with the electrical outlets at the reference desk that weren’t working.
The toner cartridge has been replaced. After my initial blog post, I learned that I should have contacted Alfredo Garcia or Annette Ruiz instead of the BCTC Help Desk with this toner problem (we have our own cartridge supply on hand).
The toner ran out. I’ve put in a Help Desk ticket requesting a replacement toner cartridge. The ticket number is 52466.
As Randy mentioned in his email this week, reference statistics will be gathered from February 9-20. I’ve taken Randy’s form and uploaded it to the Reference Desk guide on the Forms page.
As Randy noted in a recent email, we’ll be gathering reference desk statistics from Monday, September 8, through Sunday, September 14. I’ve uploaded Randy’s ref desk stats collection form to the ref desk LibGuide. You can find it on the “Forms” tab of that guide and download it.

I donated a new container of disinfecting wipes to the reference desk today. If you want to clean the keyboards and mice before your shift, you can find the wipes in one of the cabinets at the desk.
Just a heads up that I’ll be at the reference desk off and on this summer running a number of different usability tests (first in line is a test of a new web page that will let students reserve group study rooms). If you see a laptop and a big silver mic plugged into it on the lower counter of the reference desk, that’s just me.
As I will be out tomorrow, heading to the SLA conference that has some meetings on Saturday, I’ve left an inter-department mail envelope for Karen Brown in the spot at the reference desk where we leave envelopes to be picked up by others.
