Access Problems with S&P NetAdvantage and S&P Capital IQ
Rita confirmed with S&P that the problems we are seeing today with connecting to S&P NetAdvantage and S&P Capital IQ are on their end, not ours. They said that it is a temporary problem and should get fixed shortly.
Missing Desktop Icons for S&P Capital IQ
S&P Capital IQ is currently unavailable on the workstations on the second floor of the library. Students are advised to use the terminals in the Subotnick Center on the first floor of the Library Building when classes are not taking place.
We are working to restore access on the second floor workstations.
S&P Capital IQ Working Again from Specified Library Computers
The 12 computers in the library that are supposed to be able to connect to S&P Capital IQ are now able to do so again. Users should look for the desktop icon that says “Launch Capital IQ.” The 12 computers are all located closest to the service elevator on the 2nd floor and includes:
- six computers for Baruch undergraduate & graduate students only
- six computers for Baruch graduate students only
Additional computers for Baruch students with S&P Capital IQ access may be found in the Subotnick Center.
Missing Desktop Icons for S&P Capital IQ – UPDATED 16 Mar 2016

I just submitted a BCTC Help Desk ticket to ask them to replace the missing desktop icons for S&P Capital IQ on the six graduate workstations in the library. Without that desktop icon, there is no way for a graduate student to be able to log into the database. Until the icons are put back on the desktop, we’ll have to refer students to the Subotnick Center for access to that database.
UPDATE 16 March 2016: These 12 computers now have the desktop icon back and can connect to S&P Capital IQ.
Problems Getting to S&P NetAdvantage
In the past week, we’ve been seeing different issues with S&P NetAdvantage. At the moment, if you click the link on our databases page for that database, you get instead S&P Capital IQ.
We’re working with S&P technical support to solve this problem ASAP.
New Database: S&P Capital IQ
There is now a link on the library databases page for S&P Capital IQ. If you click the link, it takes you to a special page that details access, which is limited to Baruch faculty and students as follows:
- available on selected computers (12 total) on the 2nd floor to the left of the staircase (the side of the library by the elevators and self-checkout machine)
- available in the Subotnick Financial Services Center
- available to Baruch faculty and Baruch doctoral students on their personal computers (instructions we can give them about how to do this can be found in the Library Services Wiki)
Please look for a blog post here in the near future that talks about what content and functionality are unique to S&P Capital IQ.
