Communicating about Climate Migration

In the New York Times article “The Great Climate Migration” by Abrahm Lustgarten was about how the climate will affect the people migrating into the U.S in the future by using data. The model being used in the article can predict the amount of migrants coming from Central America, birthrates, and the possibility of poverty getting much worse. An example in the article from what I believe the most compelling way to tell a story of climate migration is through individual human narratives. For instance, the article mentioned about a man named Jorge and his family trying to flee from Guatemala. The experiences that Jorge and his family had gone through of suffering from a drought, him and his family could’ve died. The author refers to the individuals in this story as “migrants” instead of “refugees” because they are settling from place to place in Central America just to get to the Mexican-U.S border.
