In “Man Gets 30-Year Sentence for Raping Bird-Watcher in Central Park,” James C. McKINLEY Jr. tells us about a 74-year-old woman, a bird watcher, that was raped by David Albert Mitchell at Central Park. This incident occurred last year on Sept. 12, 2012. About a week earlier, the victim had a previous encounter with the rapist as well. The victim had taken a photo of the rapist masturbating in a wooded area.
Mr. Mitchell has a long arrest record back in his hometown of Jenkinjones, West Virginia & for the most part, he either was acquitted or haven’t served full time in jail. But this time, he is sentenced to 30 years in prison with an additional 10 years of supervised release. This rape incident is obviously a crime and Baruch students should be wary of these predators because Central Park isn’t that far away from Baruch and this could potentially happen.
