I’m sure many of you have heard about this story these past weeks, but those who haven’t, here’s a brief summary. A family of 3, one husband, one wife and their 2 year old daughter, was driving around the West Side on September 29,2013; they were stopped by a group of motorcyclists. According to Goodman, the driver of the S.U.V. knocked one of the motorcyclist and remained calm at first, but started to panic when more motorcyclists started to appear and surround them. Out of fear, the driver pushed on the pedal and fled and during the escape, took down another motorcyclist. The group of motorcyclist got furious and wanted revenge, so they hunted the vehicle down to Washington Heights and beat him up.

The motorcycle group was a bunch of motorcyclists who come together to ride around since summer was over and last year, they rode around Midtown. According to the police, these events always caused traffic and many times, motorcyclists were arrested.

In the video, it showed that S.U.V, Range Rover, was at the center land and surrounding it was motorcyclists. When one of the motorcyclists was hit, the group started to block the road. According to the police, the motorcyclists got closer and started to hit the car. Alexian Lien, the driver, was beaten around 178th street and was rushed to the New York Presbyterian Hospital. There were no charges against Alexian and his family.

There are two sides to this and I am not sure where I stand because I found that both parties have their wrongs. If was communication among them, then there won’t be violence. Alexian shouldn’t have recklessly drive through the motorcyclists and when he did, he should have stopped and apologized and help in any way he can. The motorcyclists were also at fault because they handled the situtaion with violence by taking Alexian out his S.U.V and beating him up. They should have just taken him to the police station. I felt that it was messed up that they were beating him up in front on his wife and 2 year old daughter. I believe that both parties could have handle the situation better.
