Podcast 1 Pitch

For my first podcast I am going to interview two young women in the fashion industry. One runs a clothing line and one is an aspiring stylist/ designer. I want to ask them about sustainability in fashion and how they as the future of fashion are taking the steps to not contribute to the the unsustainable practices of fashion.

Jordan Mills Interview

Our college years are filled with fluctuating nuances of optimism and pessimism. Many are on a journey of self-discovery and are trying to figure out what the rest of our lives will entail and most importantly, our place in this world. In this podcast, I will interview NYU student Tosin Adeleke and ask questions about his life, his aspirations, college, and his music and fashion endeavors.

Podcast #1 Pitch

Congress reconvenes this Monday with a full agenda. One of the most pressing topics to be discussed this session is the issue of guns in the United States. A recent ABC poll found that members of both parties overwhelmingly agree that there should be some form of “red flag” laws. The issue now is if these laws will be pushed through congress, and if the president will veto it. I’d like to interview college students (in and out of Baruch) about this debate; what they think should be done, what they’d like to see pushed through congress, and whether or not they believe these laws will keep them safer.

What is the dark underbelly of social media really like? What are the subtle ways in which web developers and social media sites feed on our data and use it as fuel to keep us plugged into their platform? My idea for this first episode is to taking a deep dive into the intricacies of web design to suss out how developers tailor platforms such as Facebook and Youtube to gather aspects of data usage that users barely even consider when clicking away online. I’d like to talk to a particular developer who codes for several smaller platforms and get the inside account of how they gather data from the platform, how ads are geared toward users and what effect data collection has had on platform integration. We know that online media has us hooked but: how? why? and, mostly importantly, how sinister is the practice?

Podcast Pitch

For my podcast, I am going to interview a local volunteer who assists families in New York that are escaping gang violence and persecution in Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador.  They have ventured a treacherous journey to pursue safety in the United States.

Considering immigration reform is currently a very heated debate, it is important that the public is aware that those entering the U.S. border can ask for asylum without being criminalized. My target audience would be immigrants, or families of immigrants. However, everyone is welcomed to listen.

Apps such as Instagram and twitter have become a place where people can garner internet fame by being fashionable, or fit, or a food enthusiast and other limitless qualities and things that are entertaining and engaging. But what is it like to be one of these “influencers?” Are they exactly how their instagram feed portrays them to be or is it a total facade? For this assignment, I will be interviewing an influencer who is more commonly known as “@Wuzg00d” to know if she is really “influencing” the 222k people who are fascinated by her vibrant OOTD (outfit of the day) insta posts.
