I was late to this post because I forgot that it was due since I registered for classes a week after this was due. After reading the book, I can see the points it makes with new types of media making a new version of art that was not there before it’s time. At one point it talks about MTV and how some of the videos and cinematography can be considered works of art even if it’s not as traditional as some people would believe art to be. Art moved on a different path from it’s past before artist were painters and drawers, now anyone can be an artist making or doing anything. The main idea behind being an artist is if your work has some type of message or the world is paying attention to you. Rappers now consider their music videos works of art, for example Kanye West with his song “Runaway”. He made a video that was around an hour to demonstrate what the song meant and how important it was for him. Having taken the class New Media Arts for me means more digital and less physical skilled based. It’s more about how we work with a machine instead of our hands. It’s the understanding of technology and how we can make art by understanding it well. I have been so interested in this art form since high school that it’s actually my minor.
