Bruce Nauman’s exhibition in the MoMA, was something that was really eye catching a truly modern. I tend to prefer a bit more of modern art, but I do not enjoy when art is too “modern” or artist try to hard to be innovative. Nauman finds a great balance in his modern work, he keeps the art interesting and meaningful. My favorite piece of the exhibition had to be “One Hundred Live and Die”, even if it was created a couple of centuries ago it still holds a powerful meaning today. Having both live and die with the same word before those words, make him contradict himself in a way yet life works like this, we never really think about dying or having an end when in reality everything lives and dies. That being feelings, moments, actions, and people. My favorite four lines had to be “black and live, black and die, white and live, white and die”. To me these lines are so powerful because it really demonstrates that it does not matter what color or race you are you will live and die just like the other races that you are not. It again shows balance in society and that no one is really better than anyone else just due to color. I think by him making these neon also gave me a feeling as if I were in “Tron” and this was something really futuristic that we still do not really comprehend.
