Andrew Demirjian

Andrew Demirjian’s exhibition confused me in a way. I loved the way he edited his videos but the message was confusing. My favorite video was the one with the flags over lapping one and other. To me this was about unity within nations, I cannot tell which nations flag is always overlapped but I think it works for the project. In a way it works better for the idea that I think the artist is trying to convey, it’s a melting pot of nations and to show the unification it’s better that we cannot see which nations it is but realize that its multiple nations. The interactive part of the exhibition was having some issues, whenever I clicked on the letters the sound would repeat and not really play that well. I did enjoy the part where the guy is throwing the book from frame to frame. I can appreciate the amount of work it takes to sync all of that better now since I started working on videos. I also found it interesting how he was reading a word from each book to make the sentence, well I think he was reading a work from the book that was on the screen. He could have been just holding up a book and reading from somewhere else. Overall I think the exhibition was good and I am looking forward to hearing the artist speak tomorrow.
