Based on the conversations with the customer (my husband), I updated my designs.
First of all, I created a shelf to put some other music-related equipment, such as cables, effectors, etc, on TinkerCad.
Here is the rough prototype images for it.
He can put his cables in the blue separated box and put labels that show the usage of the cables on the edge.
The bottom layer is for the effector units.
Then, actually, I started building a tangible prototype, “display + organize shelf”.
Since he has a bag for effector units we put this bag on a dolly as the below pictures show and slide into the shelf.
This is only a prototype, but I found out that the casters need to be smaller/lower so that I can save the space (height).
When it comes to the display of the guitars, since he didn’t like my idea that hanging up guitars facing to the side, I need to display guitars to see them from the front, then came up with the idea to have hooks on the different heights so that he can save the space, especially width. (Totally gave up the original design….)
I bought the single hooks for the guitar display and put them on the wall as below picture.
You can see the bag of effectors units on the dolly on the bottom of the picture.
It’s obvious that the guitars are invading the relaxing space on the couch in his tiny room, but this is just a test for a prototype. I’m planning to put my shelf under the guitar displays. So every music-related equipment can be organized in this corner, which helps him to organize his cables, effectors, guitars, any other equipment so that he can create his songs in a cool environment. This can solve my issue that I cannot stand the mess in his room as well.
It’s getting more like a DIY project though……..
It’s getting more for wider audience???

I love the constant revisions and pivots on the design! I think this has become a furniture project now (ha!) but that is ok. I dont know how much of a mass market there is for this but dont worry about that for now. Focus on refining it once more, getting your VP down and then moving on to the final video.

Hi Professor, thank you for your feedback!! I had a customer conversation about this revised 2nd round and got additional feedback. I’m about to finalize the 3rd round design and post it.

I like how you designed the storage space Kat! You could definitely start your own online furniture designing business lol. Maybe you can incorporate a screen on the storage door where you can select the items that you want and that item just comes to the front instead of looking through the drawer finding it? I don’t know, just trying to brainstorm for incorporating the circuit into this.
