Hello everyone!
My name is Scott Hakimian, and I am a first-year student at Baruch College. Before college, I had attended Great Neck North High School. During my time at Great Neck North High School, I had defined my position on the academic integrity plain by shaping my academic values and morals. Just to be more specific, I am strongly invested in the idea that the motto “no excuses, only hard work” translates into success in the academic field. Additionally, I firmly believe that honesty and originality in the educational process elevate students into domains that some students struggle to enter.
As a student who has merely uncovered the very top layer of what Baruch College has to offer, I have set my expectations proportionally high. First off, while I have not indulged into the wide variety of business classes Baruch is notoriously known for, I am excited and expecting to learn tremendously from the business courses. Especially as my intended major as of right now is Real Estate, I believe the wide variety of Real Estate courses can launch me into the Real Estate field after college. Stemming away from academics and into extracurricular activities, I have very high expectations for sports and clubs. As I have a couple of friends who are on other CUNY sport teams, I cannot wait to attend soccer, volleyball, and basketball teams to see local rivals and friends square off against the Bearcats. On the other hand, I am excited to join and be active in Baruch clubs. From business clubs to sociopolitical clubs, many after school gatherings have presented and promoted their clubs during the two- and half-hour breaks Freshmen have on Tuesday and Thursdays. Lastly, one concern I have for my first semester is the three-month period to fly by. One thing I could take away by my last day of high school was four years is genuinely not a long period of time. I hope to spend every second wisely and enjoy one last “fresh start.”

Hey Scott, I love how enthusiastic you are about all the opportunities you have available to us at Baruch. I think it is truly exciting as well. I can’t agree more in that our time at Baruch is going to fly by so fast, so we’ve got to make the most out of every second. You really put it into perspective when you reminded me that the semester is really only about three months long. Four years seems to be forever but it really isn’t. It’s scary to think of it that way but it’s also a true motivator to go out there and seize the day. Your ambition is great and I wish you the best in taking all your classes and joining clubs at Baruch!
I love that you have a motto that you follow and implement in your life. I think we all should definitely use it as a compass to guide us throughout our years at Baruch.
I also completely agree, high school definitely flew by and we should totally take advantage of this “last fresh start”.
Good luck in real estate and all that you achieve in life!
I love your ambition, you are going to be great. I believe in you!
It’s good that you got a system down back in high school that you now can build upon. I hope Baruch gives you everything that you need to both jump into real estate and have fun. College is pretty short, so join clubs, make friends, and work hard. 🙂
