MaKeyMaKey!

On Wednesday, March 6, we worked with a funky invention known as the MakeyMakey. This little invention could be described as a panel reminiscent of the first Nintendo controller. The device is used to create basically anything into a keyboard or mouse type of platform. For example my group decided that we would want to use gummy worms and create a piano or spare guitar for those wanting to play guitar hero basically anywhere.

The MaKeyMaKey has endless possibilities as it has an huge horizon of potential. Groups were able to innovate puzzles, entertainment, and like my group, a stress reliever for the office where you can throw a grounded ball of playdoh at a dummy connected to the MKMK and it would make a distinct noise as to where you landed the hit.

In regards to writing, I think both share the concept of “brainstorming”, trial and error process and building. You continue to work on something, throwing ideas into it, removing ideas, until you feel confident that you have a finished product. I think the MKMK is just the beginning of how technology will be intertwined with school subjects. It is a great way for innovation to sprout amongst students, employees, children, etc. Plus, it’s fun and who doesn’t like having fun?!
