Chandra Bozelko’s personal experiences in a women’s prison distort her views on the basic amenities awarded to female prisoners.
I will be discussing the actual issue of the withholding of menstrual pads as a common tactic in female prisons and then discuss Chandra’s personal experiences that were shared in a Guardian article. From there I will argue that her experience as a female prisoner distorts her viewpoint on the experience and the moral argument of it. I may then bring in outside research I can find on the actual practice and hopefully some statistics and quotes from government officials on the matter and justification behind the practice.
Sofiya,
This looks like a really interesting article, but remember, you are not to argue the issue yourself, and use the article as a source for your argument. You are to analyze the effectiveness of a writer in reaching a specific demographic, by defining the demographic, then analyzing the writer’s arguments, language, tone, etc. to decide if, in fact, the writer’s argument is effective.
