Next Steps

Since i have a concrete idea for the car tool organizer that my boyfriend agrees with, I can move onto prototyping this model. I need to take measurements in the car and figure out all the necessary components that i will need to include to fit all of his tools. then working on the design aspect, im thinking about making it camo print, and i have to figure out how to incorporate a lock onto it. I will be on tinkercad and sketchfab a lot this week!

Assignment #3: Tinkercad- Validating the Problem

The original design was nice but would do the same function as the bins or tool boxes we have now, he would not change the habit, it would just be an unnecessary hanging box that I would probably have to put everything in which is what we are both trying to avoid. I want to modify my design to be a bit larger and fit conveniently in the trunk of our jeep. I want it to look very discrete and have a lock on it to make sure no one can steal it. I also want it to attach to the car, so that the entire box isn’t able to be lifted out the car. The design needs to be able to fit his drill, allen key, screwdrivers, hammers, presser wrench, assorted screws, tape measurer, power saw, knives, and any other tools he may need throughout the week. A compartment for sanitizing and cleaning for when tools get dirty is needed as well. This way he can organize his tools while he is cleaning the car and keep everything in the car so there isn’t even the problem of being too tired when walking in the house. He will be able to make sure that all of his tools are there because they will all have their own spot, and easy to see if it’s missing. He really liked this idea and since he organizes and cleans his car anyway before coming inside, it will speed up and make his after work and morning routine way swifter and stress free.
