Fitness + Technology

Is exercising too much work? Do you feel lazy to workout? Well guess what Nike and numerous companies (individually) have developed a portable fitness watch or bracelet (which ever you prefer) which monitors your daily activities; computing a wide range of categories from calories burned, calories consumed, miles walked, steps taking and even how much you slept.

In the United States, and even around the world obesity is a major problem that is gradually rising and needs to be controlled. Now there are infomercials urging folks to go out exercise and stay active. Companies such as Motorolla, Google, and Jawbone are joining Nike and Under Armour in the fitness market trying to rein dominance in this blooming market. Nike took the next step with their Nike + fuel band which turns your fitness activity much into a game allowing you to compare your scores with friends and staying competitive and even synching it with social networks. I personally find this technology highly creative and intriguing. It can benefit us in so many ways in fighting obesity. These gadgets make you workout by motivating you, also makes excersing fun; it would also promote people to stay active.

Here are some of the leading fitness gadgets in today’s market.

NikeFuel

Each dot represents how far you are from achieving your daily goals and you can press the button to display your daily score, calories burned and the data automatically transfers to your Nike + app; from there you can compare your scores with friends and see who has better scores.
