School Lunch in New Jersey Schools

School Policy in New Jersey to Take Junk Off Lunch Tray
In “School Policy in New Jersey to Take Junk Off Lunch Tray” by John Holl as the title suggests addresses the new policy of taking junk foods off the trays of food students of New Jersey receive from their schools. Of New Jersey’s 1.4 millions students, Governor Richard J. Codey stated that approximately 20 percent were obese. That’s a whooping 280,000 students who are the future of America that are obese just in New Jersey. With this new policy, soda, candy and such are banned from school cafeterias, and the beloved soda vending machines were taken out. The results of this policy were quite interesting. Students wanted it back for the sugar while some educational officials were worried about the economic impact of the removal. However, Frank Belluscio of the New Jersey School Boards Association found that students were less likely to misbehave and paid more attention in class.
