With no known cat café’s in Queens, Meow Parlour is the only cat café conveniently located near the F, M, and J Subway lines between Chinatown and the Lower East Side.
Meow Parlour is NYC’s first Cat Café where you can spend time playing with adoptable cats, have a yoga session with cats, and enjoy sweet and savory snacks from Macaron Parlour. Meow Parlour and Macaron Parlour, co-founded by Christina Ha, first opened in late 2014.

When you arrive at Meow Parlour on your appointed date and time, you’ll be greeted by the friendly staff to check you in. Upon walking inside, taking off your shoes and cleaning your hands with hand sanitizer is required. They’ll give you a quick “Do’s and Don’ts” with the cats, then you can enjoy your 50-minute session with them.

Macaron Parlour, located next door, has a variety of macarons, cookies, pizza rolls, and hot and cold drinks that you can order from by asking a staff at Meow Parlour. They’ll personally deliver your snacks and beverage while hanging out with the cats inside.

All the cats at Meow Parlour are rescued, place into foster care, then become adoptable. Reservations are ideally required since a slot is not guaranteed for walk-ins. Each 50-minute session for adults and kids 9 and up is $16, which you can book on their website. There are also times available to do yoga with cats, which is $32 per person for 1 hour and 30 minutes.

Alison Lui, a customer at Meow Parlour, previously visited another cat café in Brooklyn and decided to come here because she thought the concept was “so cute”. “It’s my first time here at Meow but I always passed by it in Chinatown. I really enjoyed my time there and would definitely go back. You get to play with cats, drink coffee or eat pastries. Also I like how all the cats are open for adoption so I’m kind of going for a good cause.”

There are many kittens scurrying energetically around the café, but there is also currently one ten year old Tortoiseshell cat named Missy. Born in 2013, she is a “quiet, calm and loving senior gal. She likes to be near her human, but will also play with her little mouse at times.”

Meow Parlour has a colorful line of pins, stickers, cat toys, plushies, birthday cards, tarot cards, stationary items, socks, shirts, hats, candles, catnip bags, and handmade cat beds. The handmade cat beds are made by Christina Ha’s grandparents with beautiful designs of cat silhouettes, flowers, house art, and more. There’s something for every cat lover here and with extra toys and surprises for your own cats too.

The overall experience at Meow Parlour was calming and inviting with many cats who are friendly towards everyone they meet. The exposure of the cat café with dozens of customers per day, many of the cats get adopted out and new ones are rescued and brought in to become adopted too. It’s a win-win situation for both the customer and the cats.

Meow Parlour is located at 46 Hester Street and open on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursdays from 11am – 6pm. On Friday, Saturday, and Sundays they’re open from 11am – 7pm. Meow Parlour is worth the trip from Queens, where you’re supporting the historical first NYC cat café and a nonprofit rescue group.
