Before diving into entrepreneurship

You have a great idea and think you’re ready to become an entrepreneur, these are the top 8 things you must know. 

1. What is your passion?

Being an entrepreneur you must do what you love, your business is a representation of who you are. Make sure you are going to continuously thrive for more knowledge on how to keep your business up and running. You need to pass on that eagerness tho those that are working for you or with you.

2. Blueprint of working long hours

Being an entrepreneur requires long hours, more than a 9-5, especially in the beginning. Prepare an outline of what your future days are looking like and who will be incorporated as your team to start up this business.

3. Who is your Target?

Who are you targeting for your business, get familiar with their demographics and do research on they are interested in buying and why? Differentiating your target from other business targets will allow you to have a better understanding of how to create better service for the consumers.

4. Analyze your competition?

Do research as to why certain companies are still successful, what has worked for them, this information is essential to know your surroundings and competition. Check and see how much money is being invested in marketing, public relations, employers, renovations, finance and more.

5. Who is your team?

There is a quote that says “tell me who your friends are and I’ll tell you who you are”, whether your business is big or small, you need a team that is going to help bring your ideas to the light. Nothing is going to be done alone as an entrepreneur, continuously learn together. Attend workshops and classes to learn together what is the best way to build as a team.

6. What is your ultimate goal?

You’ve decided to officially start your business, you have your team, everything is running smoothly….now what’s your goal for business within the next few years? Ask yourself questions like do you want to expand in other boroughs, will you remain a small sized business forever? How far do you want to go with this business? These questions are important to answer truthfully, you can answer these questions now so you can have an idea of what to focus on to achieve your goal.

7. Networking is the key 

Attend networking events, brush elbows with other entrepreneurs that will help connect you to other individuals who can provide insight to you as a new business owner. It doesn’t hurt to ask questions that will better prepare you for what is to come. As an entrepreneur many things you learn along the way but there is a lot research that comes into play as well. Continue to create positive relationships with other entrepreneurs, this will open opportunities for you and your business. It’s good to always stay in the loop.

8. Take a second to breathe

Being an entrepreneur is exciting and challenging, take into account that you need to provide at least once a week or one hour a day to reflect on yourself. Digest everything that has happened within the day or week, recognize the positive things and analyze the things that need a little bit more tweaking. You can execute a problem when you’re level headed and aware of the root of the situation. Remember, you’re not a robot so take a second to breathe.
