Artist Statement – Skillet

For my project I wanted to focus on the relationship that a skillet has to the food it comes in contact with. Cooking has always felt very similar to painting for me, with all of the layering and mixing of ingredients rather than paints. Whether it is the butter melting around a pan or spinach withering, each component brings something else to the canvas. Food preparation has always been a cathartic experience for me, and I wanted that to come across in my video.
