Reported by the New York Times, Eugene Selznick died of pneumonia on June 11th, 2012. He was a very big figure in the volleyball world, as he made a lot of progress in American volleyball. Selznick was considered one of the greatest American volleyball players, was once the captain of the United States men’s volleyball team, coached United States volleyball teams in the Olympics twice, and “is also credited with almost single-handedly reinventing the American game of indoor volleyball”. Among these many contributions, he also helped make beach volleyball an Olympic sport.
