Beach Volleyball’s Lure Isn’t Just the Athletics
This article expresses that Beach Volleyball has been an Olympic sport since 1996 and it requires extreme skill, practice, and dedication, yet people don’t seem interested enough about the game. A british man named Brent Lewington said, “I think the women are wearing too much in the top area, actually,” in response to the preliminary match between Australia and Germany. Another man, Alistair Blake said, “We like the fact that they’re wearing small bikinis.” Someone even said that men’s beach volleyball is like, “drinking a nonalcoholic lager.” Men seem to be more as if not more interested in watching the girls in their bikinis than watching the sport. The International Volleyball Federation this year lifted its rule mandating that female competitors wear bikinis, which may lead to a reduction in fanbase as well. This is why it has been difficult establishing Beach Volleyball when compared to other events.
