Hi everyone… my name is Candy, I’m an upper-senior and my major is Sociology, which is why I think I’ve become so passionate with the topic. Before I took Sociology classes, my perception of the reality we live in was completely different. I was blinded by the media’s misrepresentation of people, had no clue as to social construction, an was missing out on pertinent information that explain and uncover the truth beneath our society. I started as a marketing management major, but I have no clue where I’ll end up.

As I was reading “Let them eat Ketchup” in ch.4 she refers to some of the women who are on welfare as “welfare queens ” because that’s what there known for – there never going to get off welfare. One intersting thing that I read was how everyone thinks that African Americans and Hispanics being on welfare – but the majority of them are white. The author also mentions what we talked about in class about how the poor people are always being hunted down to make sure there not stealing, but when a rich person (CEO’s) no one says anything to them.
