New York minute- Daynna Vera

This is where I walk everyday to get to the train station. I’ve seen this view in the early morning, afternoon and late at night. I like walking her because it is some what isolated and it helps me to think about important things that might have been bothering me through the day. As you see in the picture there is a walkway but before there wasn’t any it was just the street. I’ve seen this street remodel and the street has seen me grow. I’ve been walking here for around 5 years now.

This is a magnificent picture, the sun really captures the essence of the street that you walk to the train station as you mentioned. I could relate to this post because I’ve spent many years living in my neighborhood and like you said I’ve seen some of the streets being remodeled and the train stations as well around my neighborhood. Although at times you don’t really want to see it change, however you don’t want to see it disappear as well. I understand why you took that picture because even though it’s just a street, its more than a street in your eyes, its part of your everyday routine and it has some meaning to you. Overall, it is a great picture and continue taking this route and hopefully it continues to be a safe place for you to think about your day.

  2. Hey Daynna, great picture to begin with. Like yourself, I too have a special place where I like to walk and reflect upon my day. It is interesting to read about your connection with this specific block and how it has encouraged your thoughts for over five years now. Not only have you seen the block change over time but as you mentioned the block has seen you grow as well. Think of the first time you walked down this way, would you have thought this would become a place where you came to think about things on your mind. For me, my special place is a park bordering the East River. Although I started going to this park recently, it has become a place where I can break away from society and just reflect on current events. I feel like all people should have a “secret” place where they can go and reflect on their thoughts.

    Great work,
    Singh
